Mighty Terror, Fitzgerald Cornelius Henry, career started in 1947 and he first debuted at the Calypso Palace Tent in 1948. He joined the Young Brigade Tent in 1949, where he continued playing until leaving Trinidad in 1953 for Englan. He began recording for Melodisc in 1954 and took part in the Nixa sessions in 1958 (these tracks being released by Pye). In 1957 Terror won the title of Calypso King of Great Britain at the concert organised by Claudia Jones after attacks on the West London black community. This concert was the prelude to the now famous Notting Hill Carnival. The time between 1958 and 1964 was spent touring, first with Lord Kitchener and later with Bert McLean's Trio. Terror returned to Trinidad in 1965 and won the Calypso Crown in 1966. In April 1966, he represented Trinidad at the Festival of Negro Arts in Dakar, Senegal.
In 1985 his home country awarded him the Silver Humming Bird Medal for services to Calypso music.

The Mighty Terror, until recently, performed in Trinidad, but died on March 14, 2007.

Mighty Panther - Barbados Carnival by maharajah

The Mighty Panther, Vernon Joseph Roberts, was born in Trinidad on November 24, 1921. He was one of six calypsonians who were chosen to sing for Princess Margaret at the Governor's House during her visit to Trinidad in 1956; the others were Sir Galba, Mighty Dictator, Mighty Spitfire, Lord Melody, and Lord Viper. About two years later, Panther left Trinidad for the USA and performed in various clubs around all 50 states. He returned to New York, USA, in the early-1970s and became active in the West Indian community, later turning to social work when his singing career ended. He was frequently the Master of Ceremonies at shows held before the annual Labor Day Carnival in Brooklyn, New York. In 2001, he teamed up with fellow calypsonian King Wellington for a calypso poetry performance at the People's Poetry Gathering held in Greenwich Village, New York, from March 30 to April 1

The 1st Post

St. Thomas, USVI

Being that the Caribbean sea runs through my veins from head to toe, I decided to open up my blog with some good old fashion calypso. Not that steel pan shit that you are use to hearing on the tv and in movies, but where the calypsoian actually sat down and put words together to convey a story or a situation.

For more information on Calypso please check out:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calypso_music

There have been many calypsoians that have come and gone throughout the Caribbean that I am going to focus on a couple of them that have not received their 15 minutes of fame.

Now lets begin....."ITS TROUBLE...I GO FIND DEM...ITS TROUBLE...IN ARIMA...."
